Music & Video Submission Information

This submission is for all you musicians out there in the world. I'm looking to pair up your original music and/or video with my thriller/horror series called The Keeping. Listening to music while reading is universal. Music also has inspired many authors, including Stephanie Meyers who has talked about what bands she listened to while writing her Twilight series.

I write for young adults/adults and with this in mind I'd like to create a soundtrack for each of my 3 books in The Keeping Trilogy for them to listen to. Also, with music video's making such an impact on youtube and young adults going there to find new music, I'm looking for bands/musicians to create a music video for the song they submit to the soundtrack. All the videos will be posted on a special youtube channel.

I'm not looking for any specific genres of music, but I do have 2 rules you must follow:

1) Anything submitted must be original.
2) The lyrics should include one (or more) of the themes below:

1) loneliness
2) good vs. evil
3) love/romance
4) angels
5) demons
6) sacrifice
7) death and/or sickness
8) human soul

Deadline:

All submissions for Isolation (Book 1) must be dated no later then September 3, 2011. Submissions for Books 2 & 3 will be ongoing.

What you get out of this:

I will promote your submission(s) via my website, youtube, book, and more. Rock based songs (rock, classic rock, hard rock, metal) will receive airplay on the Lighthouse Rocks Metal show. This will expose you and your music to many new fans.

We will be putting together a soundtrack that will be streamable from the Soundtrack page on this website, and a digital copy will be offered free with each book purchase.

Nitty Gritty

1) Not all submissions will be accepted. It is my decision on which ones will make it and which will not. Any that are submitted without one of the themes from above will automatically be disqualified.

2) You must get your parents permission before sending me your work (if younger then 18).

3) There will be no money exchanged in any part of this transaction. It does not cost anything to submit your work and you will not receive any royalties.

4) By submitting your work you give me the authority to promote and use your work.

5) Each person who's work is chosen will receive a free copy of the eBook “Isolation”.

Submission Process

eMail a mp3 or mp4 (video) file to kate AT katebowyer DOT com. Include the following in your email:

1) "The Keeping Music Submission" in the subject
2) Include a bio in the body of the message, including all band members and location.
3) Also include the title of the song in the body of the message
4) Audio files must be in the mp3 format
5) Video Files must be in the mp4 format

By submitting this work, you understand that you still retain ownership and rights. You agree that by submitting this work to me you are granting non-exclusive publishing, distribution and performance rights and also agree that no royalties will be due to you under this agreement. You will be fully credited anytime your work is used or referenced.
